Print on Demand – POD

What is POD?

Print on Demand (POD) is the method of selling products that require a final stage of production (printing) before shipment.

These products have been partly manufactured or prepared for final printing to reduce inventory levels and negate excess stock and large initial orders.

POD is often utilised by companies who have similar product ranges with different prints and designs.

The advantage of print of demand is that inventory levels can remain low and customer-driven demand influences stock levels. Many POD companies will utilise clothing suppliers to create garments internationally and use local printing services to finish the range once orders have been placed.

Print on demand is a growing service that incorporates both international and locally made clothing suppliers in the supply chain. It is also being seen as an ethical manufacturing option to reduce the over-supply of garments reducing waste outcomes.
